How to make dreadlocks
Backcombing - Need: Dread Wax, residue free shampoo, metal comb, rubberbands
(1) Wash your hair with the shampoo and air dry, (2) Make 1 inch by 1 inch sections out of your hair using rubberbands to hold them, (3) Starting at the back, remove the rubberbands and start teasing the hair from tip to scalp. Be sure to only backcomb an inch of hair at a time (4) After backcombing that section put a rubberband on the tip and one at the root. Take about an M&M’s worth of wax and palm roll it into the section (5) Repeat setps 3 and 4 to all sections.
Twist and Rip - Need: Dread Wax, residue free shampoo, rubberbands
(1) Create sections of hair 1 inch by 1 inch using the rubberbands to hold each section, (2) Wash hair by rubbing your head in a clock wise motion and air dry (3) Pull apart the hair in each section and add an M&M’s worth of wax by palm rolling it (4) Repeat step 3 to each section until finished
Brush Rubbing - Need: soft bristle brush, Dread Wax, residue free shampoo, rubberbands
(1) Wash hair and air dry, (2) Use brush to rub in a clockwise motion around your head, once a dread ball forms place a rubberband around it, (3) Add some wax to each ball, (4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 until finished
Dread Braiding - Need: Dread Wax, residue free shampoo, rubberbands
(1) Wash hair and air dry, (2) Section into 1 inch by 1 inch using rubber bands to hold each section, (3)Take one section at a time and braid it. You should have a rubber band at the top and tip, (4) Add some wax and palm roll into the braid, (5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 until finished
Twist and Pin - Need: Dread Wax, residue free shampoo, rubberbands, hair pins (1) Wash hair and air dry, (2) Section hair into 1 inch by 1 inch and use rubberbands to hold, (3) Take an individual section and twist, add some wax on the twist from root to tip and twist until it curls into a ball on the head, (4) Pin the lock to the head, (5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 until finished
Twisting - Need: Dread Wax, residue free shampoo, rubberbands (1) Wash hair and air dry, (2) Section hair into 1 inch by 1inch using the rubberbands to hold each section, (3) Taking one section at a time twist it back and forth between your fingers, add some wax and continue to twist back and forth until dreads form, (4) Repeat step 3 until finished
